Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

In the British pleasure-car market the Adler enjoys an excellent reputation, reliability and general efficiency being two notable qualities possessed by these vehicles. Morgan and Co., Ltd., the British concessionnaire, is now, however, introducing the Adler commercial chassis to the British user, and it shows for the first time two examples of this German production, Both are well worth examination, and the as-ton chassis shown is a very well-considered job on standard lines. Chassis of this load Capacity are made in three powers, but that shown is of 25 h.p., the bore and stroke being 105 rum. by 135 min. The cylinders are in pairs with the valves on the near side, and the water pump and magneto on the opposite side of the engine. The Adler system of mounting engine and gearbox so as to form a unit in which there is no risk of misalignment due to temporary or permanent frame distortion is followed, The latter gives four speeds through a gate quadrant which is of a rather unusual type, giving a lock in the neutral position. The transmission from the gearbox is on lie-axle lines to the cross-shaft carrying the chain sprockets. There is a tapered shaft casing bolted up to the differential case, while the side chains are enclosed in substantial cases which act as radius rods and also provide the means for adjusting the chain tensloe. Ball bearings are used throughout the transmission and also to the front wheels. The front axle is a good piece of work, and the steering system is on excellent lines. The connecting rod has uni versal couplings at either end, while the steering centre arm is given a wide curve so that no stresses are likely to be concentrated at any point of this important member. Very powerful sprags, mounted at mid-length under the side frames, are fitted, while the footbrake and expanding side brakes axe of ample surface and all provided with finger adjustments. The second exhibit is a 1418 h.p. chassis of the 12-cwt. type carrying a fine example of a traveller's brougham body. This engine has a bore and stroke of 75 mm. by 120 mm., with enclosed valves and pump and. magneto set crosswise forward of the crankcase. The unit, while compact, provides for easy access to the clutch, a feature of which is the large-diameter braking ring fitted to facilitate gear changing. This chassis also has a four-speed gearbox, and the drive is by enclosed shaft and live axle, which form of transmission is also used on the Adler 21-ton model, which is, however, not represented,
