by 1-aul a I lamaaanc ALL OWNERS of authorised testing facilities (ATFs) and designated premises (DPs) are being urged to join the newly formed ATF Operators Association to work together to form a true partnership with Vosa.
More than 50 ATF and DP operators attended the inaugural meeting of the association last week in Coventry, where they voted in a board of directors. Paul Glover, centre manager at the Stan Robinson ATF in Seighford, Stafford, became the association's secretary, while Steve Smith, director of Boleyn Transport, which runs an ATF in Barking, Essex, took the position of president.
"We will be writing to all ATFs and DPs to increase membership numbers, and gain an understanding of how other ATFs view the working arrangements with Vosa," said Glover.
Vosa has given its backing to the association, saying it is important that it "has an association it can have constructive dialogue with".
Speaking at the meeting, Vosa senior business development manager Mark Warden said Vosa was working on "next-generation testing" and that the agency wanted to work in partnership with ATFs.
"We want you to tell us what you need," he added.
He also invited the association's board members to Vosa's HQ in Bristol for a meeting. "We welcome the fact that Vosa wants to discuss our association along with our agenda for ATFs," said Glover.
• The next meeting of the ATF Operators Association will be at the CV Show on 10 April. To contact the association, go to atfa.co.uk or call Paul Glover on 01785 282 187.
