SUTTONS GROUP MD Andrew Palmer is to retire on 30 April. John Sutton, who manages the group's international division, will take on Palmer's responsibilities. Palmer will retire from his full-time executive role, but will become non-executive director of parent company Thomas Cradley Holdings.

Chairman Michael Sutton said: "The board would like to thank Andrew for the way in which he has transformed the fortunes of the company."

John Sutton will work alongside Palmer until the end of April and will join the Thames Cradley board.

• Cheshire haulier Great Bear Distribution has appointed the former senior vice-president at Kuehne + Nagel North West Europe contract logistics, Glenn Lindfield, as chief executive. He will take on the role from 1 February.
