its licence authorisation from eight to 16 vehicles has been rejected by Eastern LA Brigadier Compton Boyd at a Nottingham disciplinary inquiry, following maintenance problems.
However, the LA agreed to the application for an extra trailer. Boyd took no action over the existing licence, but he did issue a severe warning.
He said that under a different name (Nottingham Service Contractors) the firm had its licence suspended in 1985 and revoked in 1986. Between 1987 and 1989, one delayed and two immediate prohibitions had also been imposed. A traffic examiner said that although efforts had been made to improve safety, there were still defects that could warrant prohibitions.
Transport manager David Coleman said that he had worked to improve the quality of the company's staff since being appointed in January last year. Maintenance contractors had been changed, and last year the company had spent 2125,000 on maintenance.
