• A London local authority has reported more than 40 bus operators to the Bus and Coach Council after their drivers were allegedly spotted causing disruption in the capital's crowded streets.
Westminster City Council launched a campaign last October to clamp down on inconsiderate PSV drivers by using Westminster residents as infor
mants it has already received more than 300 tip-offs (CM 4-10 October 1990).
More than half of the complaints received from residents concerned incidents at Victoria, Belgravia, Pimlico and Bayswater; most of these areas will be subject to a coach ban from April.
About 30% of the complaints were about drivers using unsuitable streets for coaches; 20% covered coaches parked on yellow lines, meter bays and residents' parking bays; and 10% concerned engines being left running on parked coaches.
