LORRY PARK WARNING • RHA Insurance Services, the specialist insurance service for members of the Road Haulage Association, has issued a warning to hauliers over the problem of secure lorry parks.

With insurance rates increasing, insurers are now more likely to impose the secure lorry park condition in Goods in Transit Cover. Unfortunately many insurers will not define what a secure lorry park is, and have no definitive list of such parks.

RHAIS says it is very important that hauliers discuss with their brokers or insurers lorry parking arrangements that will guarantee insurance cover is in force if a secure lorry park warranty is invoked.

Stricter definition of a secure lorry park is likely to be taken by insurers in the future, and some are already questioning claims in more detail. The RHAIS says that hauliers should be aware of the changes for their own protection,
