• Middlesex-based warehousing company, Callrange, has just taken delivery of 31 12.2m aluminium-sided dry freight vans to run on behalf of tobacco firm, Rothmans.
The tandem-aided, straight-frame trailers have been supplied by Crane Fruehauf with 'T' air-suspension and full load loadrestraint.
• Dagenham Motors has acquired Ford Truck specialist dealer Norman Reeves (Trucks), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Norman Reeves. In addition the company has been appointed lveco Ford specialist dealers and will also operate a Ford light and medium van franchise. All businesses will operate under the Dagenham Motors name.
• Tiphook has sold its 4.9% stake in the troubled Mitchell Cotts group for an undisclosed sum, barely six weeks after purchasing shares in the chemicals, engineering and transportation group. It is believed that Tiphook has sold its Mitchell Cotts shares to Rushlake, a private company owned by the Jivraj family which already holds an 11.8% stake.
The sale by container and trailer leasing specialist Tiphook effectively ends speculation that the company seeks to acquire Mitchell Cotts.
• Fergusons Transport of Blyth in Northumberland, one of the North-East's largest operators, has taken delivery of its first Leyland artics for 15 years.
The company has bought four 6x2 20.32 Roachrains, powered by Cummins NTE 320 engines and equipped with Spicer ten-speed gearboxes. The sleeper cab 20.32s join Fergusons' 200-strong fleet of predominantly-imported vehicles, and will be used on general haulage and removals.
