built at its Irvine plant during 1986 to 2,070 — the first time more than 2,000 chassis have been produced in a single year at the Scottish factory.
The 2,070 trucks, which include an export order for Switzerland, follow major investments of £750,000 in production line facilities, which have helped to cut truck building times by over 25%.
According to Irvine's general manager Winston Wright, Volvo intends to improve its efficiency further in 1987, and its build programme should increase slightly over last year. Around 40% of the UK demand for Volvo Trucks is now satisfied by Irvine-built Vehicles.
