Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• With a number of senior Freight Transport Association personnel approaching retirement, the FTA's head office is to be streamlined.

From May 1 Terry Goldrick will concentrate on specialist activities including consultancy and engineering liaison with manufacturers. Bill Mills, like Goldrick, will be retiring soon; until then he will oversee FTA property development.

Director-general Garry Turvey will ultimately lead a team of five directors who will handle all aspects of the FTA: Li John Morris: finance; National Council; National Executive Board; company secretary; membership; administration; regional co-ordination; deputy for the directorgeneral.

Jack Welsh: use of freight

transport; British Shippers' Council; commercial committee; customs; international transport; EEC liaison.

El Richard Turner: vehicle inspection; Freightcheck; fork truck training; civil engineering; marketing; press; public relations.

11] David Green: economics; roads; dangerous goods; parliamentary liaison; International Road Union liaison; operations committee.

Keith Taylor: training and personnel. Taylor is the only new team member; he joins the FTA on April 27 from the United Glass Group.

Other changes include Don McIntyre, promoted to controller; and Mark Booker, who becomes assistant secretary. When Mills and Goldrick retire existing directors will take on their responsibilities; the FTA intends to maintain a team of five directors.

The restructuring will not affect the FTA's regional controllers. They are: Bob Cross (North), John Guttridge (South-East); Gordon Dougall (Scotland), Frank Cook (South-West) and Martin Richards (Midlands.
