• John Withey

has been appointed district general manager for the Wandle District of LonJohn Withey don Buses.

He succeeds Derek Fish who retired towards the end of last year.

Withey, 44, joined London Transport in 1958 as a trainee draughtsman in the Underground's chief mechanical engineer's office.

In 1980 he became personnel manager for Bus Engineering until taking up his most recent position as LBL's management development officer.

For the past three months he has been seconded to Hunter Distribution, a private sector company engaged in warehousing and retail distribution.
