• A trailer division has been set up by R. Murfitt in a new 4,000 sq.ft factory on the trading estate at Marwick Road, Marsh, Cambs. Mr. A. N. Newdick is general manager.
Standard-range and custom-built trailers will be made and the current range of platforms, step-frames, vans and pack carriers will be expanded. Early next year a brand new trailer designed for 16 tons g.t.w. will be produced.
First production models from the new factory will be 40ft container-carrying flats for W. Carter (Haulage) Ltd.
Scania-Vabis produced 9,650 trucks and buses last year. an increase of 650 on 1967: 6,500 were exported. The company's group turnover increased to an estimated 1,170m Swedish crowns.
• The GPO has ordered four dual-purpose 20ft platform/container carrier trailers from Hands Trailers Ltd., to carry mail containers between sorting offices and Freightliner terminals.
• Transport consultants Davies and Robson. Croydon, announce that their one-day seminar on -The impact of quality licensing • on transport management-, to be held at the Charing Cross Hotel on February 5, is to be repeated on Feb. 19.
