A RISE IN freight traffic during the fourth quarter of 2004 has prompted a trade association to call for greater investment in the road network.

The Department for Transport report Road Traffic Statistics: Q4 2004 shows goods vehicle traffic rose by 5 'YU over the same period of 2003. This includes a 5% increase in trucks on motorways,and 4% and 10% rises on rural A-roads and urban A-roads respectively.
