the second Severn crossing approach roads raise their standards after almost a third of their trucks were found operating illegally.
Out of 196 trucks stopped in spot checks between last July and mid-October, 63 were found breaking the law.
The building giant is now increasing checks on the 200 trucks which supply the M4 and M49 sites on an average day. Main contractors include ARC Southern; MJ Church Plant, Churngold Group, Bristol and Avon Civil Engineering, T S Thomas, Keanes, Topshield and R M Penny Plant Hire.
