THE NORTH WESTERN Traffic Commissioners have revoked the short term licence held by Les Hughes Transport Services (North Wales for a circular service in Colwyn Bay.
The Commissioners granted the licence in April to see whether Hughes' much contested plan to operate four stage services competing with Crosville Motor Services' National Bus network in Clwyd would generate new traffic or take business from Crosville (CM, April 30).
In refusing the application at the beginning of December after examining the results of the trial period, the Commissioners said that, legally, the short-term licence would continue pending the determination of any appeal against their decision.
However, they were giving
notice that they were considering revoking it because of unchallenged evidence that the company had operated outside the licence conditions (CM December 10).
In a written decision revoking the licence without calling the company to a public sitting, the Commissioners said they had received written representation in support of the revocation from Clwyd County Council and Crosville. No representation against the revocation had been received from Hughes. Accordingly the licence was revoked.
Hughes is not to appeal against the revocation.
