Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A S a regular reader of The Commercial Motor for about " 45 years I have been interested in your reports of the activities of the mysterious Transport Holding Company as to who is responsible for the authorization of the acquisition of the numerous private enterprise road haulage undertakings. Also I could not visualize who was putting up the colossal finance to acquire such large-scale road haulage interests.

After reading your short but precise explanation, the Minister of Transport appears to be the master mind pushing these transactions. Mr. Fraser must have a very good reason for this policy, which I believe is to reduce the potential competition which BRS and BR were feeling very acutely. Should Mr. Fraser be permitted to continue this policy he will accomplish the Labour Party pre-election manifesto to nationalize road transport without compensation. It is evident that Mr. Fraser underestimates the intelligence of personnel of the Road Haulage Association and the large membership it represents.

I sincerely hope that Sir Martin Redmayne will press the Minister for a complete schedule of all the activities of the THC, especially the amount of taxpayers' money involved. To all hauliers I suggest that Mr. Fraser is trying the back-door method to create a nationalized road transport industry, and thus a State monopoly.
