• Preventing cases getting to the tribunal stage was one of the topics of the Road Haulage Association's conference on personnel management last month. Ruth Potts, the association's controller for employment and distribution, says most of the calls she gets show that hauliers "need help when dealing with disciplinary and dismissal matters".
