Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The new Iveco Ford TurboDaily, due to be launched in the UK at the Scottish Show in November, will be joined by a 4x4 version next spring.

Like its two-wheel-drive equivalent (CM 1-7 June), the four-wheel-drive TurboDaily benefits from a new facelifted bodyshell, an uprated version of the Sofim turbocharged direct injection diesel, and an improved interior compared with the outgoing Daily range.

Iveco Ford will be targeting the vehicle at users needing all-terrain capability, and believes it to be in a different category to lighter 4 x4s such as the County Transit, Renault Trafic, Bedford Midi and the Sevel vans like the Talbot Express (which go on sale in 4 X 4 form in the next few months).

The company predicts it should have little difficulty in selling the 160 units it hopes to have available next year. Public utilities and the emergency services are likely to be the biggest customers.

Plated at 4,050kg GVW, the model — designated 40-10W will be offered in three ver sions; 2.8m wheelbase in chassis cab and high-roof panel van forms, and 3.2m wheelbase, with chassis cab only.

The popular Sofim turbodiesel is rated (to EEC 88/195) at 76kW (103hp) at 3,800rpm, with 235Nm (173Ibft) of torque at 2,000rpm; drive goes via a five-speed gearbox and a twospeed transfer box.

Before four-wheel drive is engaged, the front hubs must be locked manually; there is no inter-axle diff lock, but the rear axle has a manual lock as standard while one for the front axle is optional. As on the 4x2, the front wheels are independently sprung with torsion bars, while the rigid rear axle is suspended by leaf springs.

lveco Ford has made no decision yet on its pricing policy, but the 4 x 4s are bound to command a large premium over the equivalent 4x2 model.
