Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Imports of commercial vehicles look set to decline as more European and Japanese designs are manufactured or assembled in this country, predicts industry analyst Key Note Publications in its latest study of the UK CV market.

Commercial vehicle manufacturers must look for further economies of scale through more co-operative ventures in order to ensure survival in the overcrowded European market, says the report. Key Note predicts further moves to vehicle specialisation and the growth of large specialist companies operating fleets of thousands of CVs.

It also warns there will be greater pressure from Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturers after 1992, and identifies Nissan's Motor lberica plant in Spain as a likely source of medium and heavyweight trucks.
