THE OM CONTAINER theft conspiracy trial at Ipswich Crown Court (GM, August 10) ended abruptly last week when one of the defendants changed his plea to guilty.

Two other defendants had changed their pleas to guilty during the six-week trial of four men charged with conspiracy to steal 28 lorry loads from Felixstowe between January 1, and August 28 last year.

There were alternative charges of conspiring to handle stolen goods and yesterday Carmel Borg, of London N15, pleaded guilty to the handling charge, and the jury was discharged.

The fourth defendant, Stanley Body, of Hornchurch, Essex was granted a retrial.
