A LORRY weight ban proposal has been turned down by a county council.
Villagers and the parish council at Wyre on the Fylde are pressing for a weight limit to be imposed on a bridge in the village on the A586 road to Fleetwood. This road carries a good deal of heavy goods vehicle traffic to the port at Fleetwood from the A6 and the M6.
But the council has said that the weight limit would mean extra cost and inconvenience to traffic, particularly at a time of fuel shortage, and would not be approved.
