THE FRENCH commercial vehicle industry is going through a difficult time, particularly at the heavy end of the .market by comparison with its British counterpart.
Sales of lorries above six tonnes gvw fell by 2.6 per cent during the first six months of this year and exports in this category were down by 17.8 per cent. French exports of lighter commercial vehicles suffered slightly less, falling by 4.8 per cent.
French production is also depressed and during the first half of the year, light commercial vehicle production was down by 4.8 per cent, while manufacture of heavy lorries was 12.8 per cent down.
