Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I AM engaged on research into various aspects of road transport and would like to ask the readers of The Commercial Motor for help with my inquiries. I would be very grateful for information on any of the following topics:— Firstly, the effects of the London to Birmingham motorway (or any other new road building or major improvement schemes) on the level of costs in road transport. 1 would be particularly interested to learn whether the time savings it allows can or cannot be put to profitable use.

Secondly, co-operation between road hauliers: I would be pleased to learn of instances of co-operation, on a formal or informal basis and would be interested in comments on the reasons for the success or failure of such arrangements in particular instances and on the advantages of co-operation and the obstacles to it in general.

Thirdly, the advantages and disadvantages of large scale operation; or more precisely, the relation between the size of firm and its costs level. It is often remarked that there is a trend towards larger units in road haulage. 1 would be grateful for explanations of this development.
