A 25-CWT. battery-electric' three-wheeler with PA bodywork for the bakery trade has been
produced by Wales and Edwards, Ltd., Wyle Cop, Shrewsbury. Front suspension consists of a rubber-to-metal laminated spring Unit interposed between the steering sub-frame and steel fork with detachable wheel hub and axle assembly.
The traction motor is mounted directly over the single reduction rear axle, the input shaft being driven by a heavy-duty enclosed chain and sprocket mechanism incorporating a torsionally resilient coupling, a component which absorbs sudden fluctuations in torque.
Fifteen-cell batteries are supplied with capacities varying from 161-359 amp.-hr. The bodywork accommodates 40 trays measuring 2 ft. 6 in. by 1 ft. 6 in. in four tiers. Three sliding doors running on two tracks on each side allow ease of access to trays. The new 25-cwt. threewheeled battery-electric produced for the bakery trade by Wales and Edwards, Ltd., Shrewsbury. The body can accommodate 40 trays measuring 2ft. 6 in. by ft. 6 in.
40% MORE LIFE FROM NEW FACING
ANEW brake-facing material claimed to have up to 40 per cent, more life than older types has been produced by the Cape Asbestos Co., Ltd. Known as Capasco HES, the material is moulded. Its frictional properties are slightly lower than, for example, the company's HF6A/5 facing.
Another new product is a clutch facing, known as E5IC extreme-duty moulded material, for which exceptional wearing qualities are claimed, particularly under arduous conditions.
