TRANSPORT AND warehousing firm Pollock (Scotrans) has stepped in to take over some of Ramage Distribution's work after its move into administration, giving paper-maker Tullis Russell a lifeline.
Pollock operations manager Mark Jackson says: "Because we had existing relationships [with Tullis Russell], we have supported them at this time. For the moment, it is a stopgap. Nothing has been arranged for 1he medium or long term."
He adds: "We weren't going to see them struggle. They made a call to us and said 'help'. We are mixing it in with our general haulage, subbing where we can and providing cover," The administrator for Lanarkshire-based Ramage Distribution, meanwhile, has confirmed that the company's turnover was as high as £30m when KPMG accountants were called in on 9 April.
A KPMG spokeswoman was unable to confirm if there will be a dividend for creditors as CM went to press.
Ramage Distribution has no connection with Newcastle-based Ramage Transport.
