• Saturday auctions at operators' premises are still going strong, according to Commercial Vehicle Auctions (CVA) and Malcolm Harrison.
A well-attended CVA sale held on behalf of VJ Harper at a site near Wisbech, Carnbs saw a selection of Volvo FLio 6xz tractive units-1991 to 1994
vintage sell for between £1,5oo and i2,5o0. Schmitz and York triaxle r3.6m fridge trailers on air suspension dating back to 1990 and 1991 were bought for around £5,500 apiece, and there was keen bidding for the wide assortment of workshop equipment on offer.
The star turn, however, was a fullyrestored Gardner-powered 1959 Foden Sao flatbed, which went for Lio,000. Having paid for it, the lucky purchaser apparently climbed up behind the wheel, and drove it straight back to Wales.
