Gardner cultivations

TWO NEW engines are currently undergoing development at Gardner's Patricroft factory — an enlarged version of the current sixcylinder 6LXC series designated the 6LXDT and a completely new "big six" designated the 6LYT.

The former has an enlarged bore and stroke and will be aimed at the 180 to 210 kW (240 to 280 bhp) sector. The 6LYT, as its type number suggests, is again a six-cylinder turbocharged engine with a capacity rumoured to be around 15 litres (915 cu in).

It is expected that this engine will make its first appearance at the 1984 motor show when its probable rating will be 240 kW (320 bhp) followed by a 260 kW (350 bhp) version.
