Castleton have been re-elected vice-chairmen, Mr. R. V. Pohlman was elected hon. treasurer on the retirement of Mr. S. J. Lamborn from this office. Mr. J. W. Bannard remains national hon. treasurer.

Mr. S. E. Bird has joined Aluminium Distributors Ltd., main distributors for James Booth Aluminium Ltd., Birmingham, as a sales executive.

The Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (Gt. Britain) Ltd. has announced some top-level management changes. Mr. A. IL Pendree has relinquished his position of managing director to become deputy chairman of the board of directors. Succeeding Mr. Pendree as managing director and chief executive officer is Mr. C. J. Pilliod. New sales director is Mr. E. M. Cramp, previously sales manager of the company's manufacturers' sales division. Mr. N. F. Cope, previously financial director for Goodyear-India, has been appointed financial director for Goodyear-Great Britain. Mr. L. A. Gibbs, previously assistant secretary, has been appointed company secretary. Mr. I. Thompson, previously financial director, has been appointed assistant to the managing director.

Mr. S. E. Lister, chief purchasing officer to Leeds City Transport, retired last week after 51 years' service with the department—a record. His retirement severs one of the last links of the department with the days of tramcars and railless traction. Mr. W. Hopkinson, financial assistant, has been promoted to take over from Mr. Lister.

Mr. Don Oliver has been appointed general manager of Palmer Coachbuilder Ltd., of Feltharn, Middx.

Mr. D. R. Miers has been elected committee chairman of the West Midland area of the Road Haulage Association for 1964-65, with Mr. D. H. Dale and Mr. A. C. W. Neely as vice-chairmen.

At annual elections in the Devon and Cornwall area of the Road Haulage Association, Mr. H. F. Whitton was elected chairman, with Col. T. J. Emerson, Mr. L. C. Matthews and Mr. L. G. Valance as vice-chairmen. In the Honiton sub-area, Mr. L. H. Lockyer is chairman, with Mr. D. 0. Good vicechairman. Mid Cornwall sub-area chairman is Mr. W. H. Grose, with Mr. N. J. Grose vice-chairman. Exeter sub-area chairman is Mr. W. Tucker, with Mr. H. W. Holman vice-chairman.

Mr. Charles B. Lowe has been appointed engineering designer of the Bostrom Manufacturing Co. Ltd. of Surbiton and Birmingham, to work on the development of the company's range of suspension seating for tractors and commercial vehicles.

Mr. W. Kavanagh has been appointed export sales manager of Cry pton Equipment (ML Group). He joined the Crypton export department in 1960. Mr. R. Evans, Lancashire representative since 1954, becomes national accounts manager for the North of England. Two newcomers to the Cry pton sales force are Mr. N. R. Chester and Mr. P. A. L. Houseman. Mr. Chester will cover Leicester, Northampton and Rutland, and Mr. Houseman, East Lancashire.

Mr. Alan J. Whysall, of Crosland Filters Ltd., Nottingham, a subsidiary of Simms Motor and Electronics Corporation ttd., has been appointed export manager, assuming his new duties on May 1.

Mr. W. V. Warry has been appointed manager, new product development, of J. W. Roberts Ltd., a Turner and Newall company, and Mr. E. Malins, manager, plastics sales department.

Mr. G. P. Webb, of the hydrovane division of The Hymatic Engineering Co. Ltd., has been appointed home sales supervisor at Redditch; he was previously senior hymatic-hydrovane representative in London and the South East and will be replaced by Mr. J. A. Caunt. At the annual general meeting of the Yorkshire section of The Institute of Transport, Mr. L. M. Sayers was elected chairman for 1964-65. Mr. G. W. Battensby was elected immediate past chairman. Vice-chairmen are Mr. A. Stone, Mr. C. G. Craven and Mr. F. L. Hick.

Administration changes in The •Skefko Ball Bearing Co. Ltd., of Luton, have resulted in Mr. A. G. Macdougall, formerly contracts manager, being appointed commercial manager, responsible to the sales director, Mr. L L. Dickinson. Former assistant contracts manager, Mr. R. W. Allen, has been appointed assistant commercial manager. Internal sales administration is now in divisions, for which the following are responsible: Mr. B. W. Clay, deliveries manager; Mr. H. W. Greening, sales planning and forecasting manager; Mr. F. E. Savage, service manager; Mr. E. J. Artiss, chief sales correspondent; Mr.

D. M. Longley, sales pricing controller; Mr. M. J. Williams, export manager.

Mr. W. Harris, works director of Bound Brook Bearings Ltd., retired on March 31 after 39 years' service with the Birfield group of companies. Mr. Harris has been succeeded as works director by Mr. S. F. Shearman, who joined the Birtield group in 1956. Mr. L. D. Slater is to resign next Thursday from his positions of deputy sales director of the Leyland Motor Corporation and commercial director of A.E.C. and its associated and subsidiary companies overseas. Mr. Slater, who is a chartered accountant, joined the A.C.V. Group as secretary of Park Royal Vehicles in 1955, and was appointed commercial director of A.E.C. in 1959. Following the Leyland merger, he became commercial manager of L.M.C. in August, 1962, and took up his present position in February of last year. In future he will be concerned with financial and investment consultancy, but will also act as consultant for the L.M.C. Pension Funds.

Mr. R. Durham was last week elected chairman of the Northern Area of the R.H.A.; vice-chairmen elected were Mr. H. L. Beadle, Mr. R. Clifford and Mr. N. T. O'Reilly.

Following the appointment of Mr. J. T. Trench as engineer, British Road Services Ltd.—the general haulage company—and Mr. G. A. H. Cardwell as engineer, B.R.S. (Parcels) Ltd., further engineering appointments have been announced. Among them are some new posts in the general haulage company, being senior engineers attached to company headquarters with responsibility for a number of districts. These latter posts are shown below, with previous positions in parentheses. Scotland and Northern—Mr. J. More (Scottish div. eng.); Yorkshire S. Yorks, Lincoln, N. Midlands, N. Western—Mr. R. Smith (Midland div. eng.); S. Wales, S. Western and W. Midlands—Mr. J. D. BHIington (Western div. eng.).

The following district engineers have also been appointed:—

In B.R.S. (Parcels) Ltd. a new post of senior engineer (Northern) has been created and Mr. W. R. T. Thomas has been appointed to this position. He will be attached to headquarters and be responsible for the Scottish, N. Western and N. Eastern areas (he was formerly N. Eastern divisional engineer). Area engineers appointed in the Parcels company are:- London—Mr. J. R. W. Linnell (fleet cog., Canterbury): Scottish—Mr. J. M. McDowell (fleet eng., Glasgow); N. Western—Mr. R. Hague (inspector, H.Q.); N. Eastern—Mr. E. Norton (fleet eng., York); Midland— Mr. G. L. Wagstaffe (fleet eng., Leicester); S. Western—Mr. S. G. Risebrow (fleet eng., Exeter); Eastern—Mr. L. Wheeler (fleet cog., Gloucester).
