Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

LThA NEW standard may shortly be established by the "heavy five" and "big six" committees of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders incorporating modern developments in body and cab design. This is indicated in the society's annual report, which also states that a memorandum on vehicle lighting is being prepared for submission to the Ministry of Transport,

The trailer technical committee has been preparing new standards for towing attachments and work on this matter has been closely integrated with that of Service departments. As a result, the maximum practicable interchangeability between civil and military use has been achieved".

The standard regarding the demarcation of work between trollcybus chassis and body constructors has received the attention of the electric traction group, and proposals have been circulated to interested concerns.

In association with the National Road Transport Federation, the Society made recommendations to the Ministry of Transport in 1952 for 'increases in permitted overall widths, lengths and laden weights of goods vehicles. Suggestions were also put forward about the power of stop lights, park ing brakes and attendants on trailers.

The report notes a change from a seller's to a buyer's market and a mitigation of the material-supply problem. There had, however, been specific supply difficulties, notably in wheel-rim strip, which seriously affected commercial-vehicle production. • An improvement was effected following steps taken by the S.1■1.M.T. to remedy the position.
