Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Leicester bus operator Midland Fox is continuing on its takeover trail with the purchase of Stamford independent Blands and its subsidiary Satin Coaches, and the Melton Mowbray town services from Barton Buses.

Nineteen coaches have been acquired with the Blands business which will continue operating bus services, excursions and tours from Stamford.

Blands will keep its present identity, but Satin will be wound-up and coaches will no longer be based at North Luffenham, The Melton purchase brings two years of town services competition between Bartons and Fairtax (a Fox subsidiary) to an end.

Five services have been sold, together with four Daf coaches, by Barton. which will continue to operate longer routes from its garage in the town. An additional 13 coaches have also been sold to Fox and will be distributed among its various units. Since the end of 1987 Fox has taken over the operations of 12 independent companies, the most recent acquisition being Tellings Golden Miller Coaches of Byfleet, Surrey.
