/UST put into service this month is a

30-ton-gross plated articulated outfit delivered by Peterborough Engineering Co. Ltd. to S. W. Mitchley Ltd., of King's Lynn for the haulage of timber. Its first run was from King's Lynn to Cardiff with eight standards (about 21 tons) of timber, driven by Mr. John Mitchley. son of the founder, Mr. S. Mitchley.

The outfit comprises a Foden 4AE6/30 10 ft.-wheelbase tractive unit with Foden two-stroke diesel engine and seven-speed overdrive gearbox, and a York Teamster 33 ft. 6 in. semi-trailer with TA tandem running gear and S-cam brakes having three-line air-pressure operation.

This is the first SAE fifth-wheel outfit in the Mitchley fleet, all previous attics

having had auto-coupling. It is thought to be the first 30-ton-plated combination in East Anglia.
