• The Vehicle Inspectorate's own staff are likely to be the biggest investors in its privatisation, it emerged this week. The signals of interest from testing station staff must cheer the Government: it has been told by truck dealer representatives that they are not interested in any sale.
The main bone of contention for the dealers is that repairs will not be allowed at any of the 91 CV testing stations when privatised.
