C. P. Kennedy last week took over the appointment of training officer of Pickfords Removal and Travel Service. Aged 31, he was formerly a branch manager of Pickfords and in 1959 was the Good medallist of the Institute of the Furniture Warehousing and Removing Industry.
F. A. Laker has been appointed a director of Castrol Ltd. "Freddie" Laker, 44, now chairman and managing director of his own company, Laker Airways Ltd., was until last November managing director of British United Airways.
R. M. Wilkinson, previously sales director, has been appointed commercial director of Forgings and Presswork Ltd., and relinquishes his sales activities. S. Walker, previously commercial manager of Birfield Extrusions Ltd., has taken up the dual appointment of sales manager of Forgings and Presswork Ltd., and Birfield Extrusions Ltd.
William Briddon, of Brimington Common, Chesterfield, general foreman of Chesterfield Corporation transport department has been appointed chief technical officer of Newport municipal transport department. He is 30 and starts his new work next month. A. F. R. Carling has been appointed to the board of the British Electric Traction Co. Ltd. He has been a member of the company's executive staff since 1954, is chairman of the Northern General Transport Group of companies, Western Welsh Omnibus Co., and London Coastal Coaches, and managing director of East Yorkshire Motor Services. He is a past chairman of the Public Transport Association.
CAF Mechanical Handling Equipment Ltd., concessionaire for Marrel multi-bucket equipment, has appointed A. J. Mitchell deputy sales manager. He will take care of all direct sales.
R. C. Turner is taking an early retirement from business and has resigned from the board of Brown Brothers Ltd. Mr. Turner joined Brown Brothers in 1946 at their head office. Subsequently he was manager at Acton branch, returning to head office as general manager of the motor group.
