Goggomobil, Ltd.,
93-95 Old Brompion Road, London, S.W.7. 1-IN show for the first time in this cduntry are an 8-cwt. IL/van and an ambulance based on the Goggomobil Esquire estate car. Structurally the two K.700 models, as they are known, are similar, but the ambulance' has Windows in the rear body sides. The integrally constructed vehicles are powered by .a 688 c.c. horizontally opposed twin-cylindered air-cooled engine which develops 30 b.h.p. at 4,900 r.p.m. . The forward-mounted engine drives the hypoid rear axle through a four-speed gearbox with synchromesh on all the forward ratios.
Aix-cushion rubber units augment the Coil springs for the independently suspended front wheels and the semi-elliptic springs' at the rigid rear axle. The van provides 36 Cu. ft. of loading space and the ambulance accommodates a demountable stretcher and an attendant's seat. Both vehicles have tophinged rear doors.
Whilst the K.700 models are relatively conventional, the TL. 5-cwt, van and the similar 6-cwt. pick-up displayed are far from it. These forward-control vehicles have a rearmounted 293 c.c. or 392 c.c. parallel-twin two-stroke petrol engine driving the independently sprung rear wheels through an electrically operated preselective gearbox. A normal transmission is available as an option. The low floor line, made possible by 10-in.-diameter wheels, affords large load space in relation to the overall dimensions of the Van. The pick-up weighs about 12 cwt. unladen, whilst the van is 1 cwt. heavier. Both models have sliding cab doorsand a permissible gross running weight of 18 cwt.
