Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WAS VERY interested in Noel article in CM, October 2, bout destination display. Like him, I have always ivoured comprehensive isplays where possible, and us no doubt reflects my pbringing in the Potteries There PMT made extensive use I via points on their destination isplay.

However, it does occur to me lat such a comprehensive isplay can bees confusing as the ngle ultimate destination that 3ems to be common practice owadays. The snag with -lowing a comprehensive isplay is that for most of the )ute the point that was passed trough first is still displayed, id therefore a stranger could qually well expect a bus to be ning through that particular lace.

Perhaps, therefore, the answer to show a different route umber in opposite directions 'hich is a practice not regularly ndertaken by operators, but )uld be helpful in such tuations, particularly if the Jrnbers bore some relation to 3ch other, eg perhaps by tering the first digit only. So far as electro-magnetic Isplays are concerned, I find lem difficult to read. Being in area (Morecambe) where a rge number of retired persons tside, I can but wonder what fficulties they must encounter. . W. W. KNOWLES assenger transport general ianager mcaster City Council
