poration announced a new symbol which is to be used by all the companies within the group; it is shown in the drawing above, the " L" being in black in a red motif. Leyland say that it is intended to represent wheeled• transport and motion in a simple form.

Mr. Donald Stokes, the Corporation's managing director, said that while they wished all their companies to retain their individuality it was felt that they would also benefit from their common identity, as a member of a group "strong in men, money and ideas ".

£200,000 Indian Bus Fleet: A £200,000 order for Leyland Comet buses has been received by Ashok Leyland, India, from Uttar Pradesh Railways. The contract calls for 67 long-wheelbase models which will be fitted with bodies to be built at the Roadways' central workshop in Kanpur. Most of the vehicles will supplement city services, although a few will be used on inter-town services.

Small Bedford Bus: The 21-scat Bedford bus (described in The Commercial Motor, October 9) which was developed in conjunction with the Southern Light Coach Centre, St. Leonards-on-Sea, and is available from that company, can also be obtained without restriction through any Bedford p.s.v. dealer.
