Lancs. . . • For the applicant, Miss Elizabeth Havers Said that currently One ,vehiele was' operated on A and two on B licence and that the bulk of the work consisted of :componentS for• the :motor industry from the Southampton factory of ACDelco •Ltd. The applicant's business had been built up very largely by sub-contracting and the principal reason for seeking , an additional vehicle was to reduce the amount of hiring. Miss Havers said that even if a grant was made, her client would still have to sub-contract Work to a considerable extent.

In evidence, Mr. S. L,' Paddick said that the amount of work he did for ACDelco Ltd. had increased considerably and that this year he had Paid subcontractors £18,872 for long-distance hauls and 11,200 for local work. He pointed out that components were often required urgently and at very short notice at -Vauxhall's Ellesmere Port and Ford's Halewood plants, and failures on the part of sub-contractors had caused some difficulty.

Supporting the application, Mr. R. Yeates, traffic supervisor at AC-Delco Ltd., said that his company was a division of General Motors and that this year business had increased by between 15 and 20 per cent. He stressed the need for a prompt and efficient delivery service to the manufacturers and said that the additional vehicle, if authorized. could be employed by his company for much of its time.

B.R.S. sought and obtained an assurance, from AC-Delco Ltd.. that work at present done by B.R.S. (Parcels) Ltd. would not be taken elsewhere, The 'objection to the application was not otherwise pressed.
