7HEREAS previous loading shovels 1. manufactured by the Chaseside gineering Co., Ltd., have been twoleek-drive types, the latest addition their range, the Loadroaster 1000, drive to all wheels. It has a payid capacity in its 11-cu.-yd. scoop of 00 lb.

spiral-bevel crown wheel and pinion epicyclic hub gearing are used for double-reduction axles. The rear Is are steered with hydraulic assist ance. Hydraulic brakes aided by a vacuum servo operate on alt. wheels: Tyres are 14.00-24 in. 8-ply.
The scoop is controlled by two pairs of hydraulic rams, the shovel linkage
operating about the front axle which acts as a fulcrum. Maximum pry-out force is 13,800 lb. and discharge height is 9 ft. 6 in. The Loadmaster 1000 weighs approximately 61 tons unladen and, with a full load, will scale a 1-in-2-t gradient.
