Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AT a meeting on October 14, the Road Haulage Central Wages Board agreed to request the Minister of Labour to make an Order giving effect to the proposals of the Board for the amendment of the existing Road Haulage Wages Order. The decision was reached after the Board had considered reports from the Area Wages Boards on the proposals and the objections which had been lodged against them.

It is recommended that the statutory remuneration for adult workers in the London area, grade I areas and on long-distance services should be raised by 2s. 6d. per week, in grade H areas by 3s., and in grade -III areas by 3s. 6d. Increases of half these amounts would apply to. those junior . workers who would not be entitled to the adult rates. It is also proposed that the basic subsistence allowance of 7s. should be increased to 9s., and certain towns up-graded for thypurpose of the application of the statutory remuneration.

It must be pointed out that these proposed amendments will not come into force unless and until the Minister makes an Order confirming them. Due notice of such intention will be given.
