Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The second conference on mechapazed farming will be held at Rhodes House, Oxford, from January 5-8, 1937, under the joint auspices of the School of Rural Economy, the Agricultural Economic Research Institute, and the Institute for Research in Agricultural Engineering, of Oxford University.

This year's conference stressed the application of mechanization to mixed farming, against theymore specialized practice of the past. Next year's conference, according to the programme just issued, will cover the whole field of power farming and mechanization, from row-crop equipment for market garden crops to gyrotiilage.

The programme includes the reading of 16 papers, discussions, two or three addresses and power demonstrations.

B Licence as a Present.

A B licence as a reward for long service provided a novel interlude at an inquiry held at Manchester on Monday last. The case was that of Mr. Ernest Allison, of Bulwer Street, Rochdale, whose employers, Messrs. Nut tall, transferred their licence to him in recognition of 32 years' service, five as transport manager.

The Licensing Authority made the

" presentation," granting terms enabling Mr. Allison to do Messrs. NuttaIl's carrying "for hire or reward."

A.E.C. Pension Scheme Extended.

For some years, the Associated Equipment Co„ Ltd., has operated a pension scheme for its staff members. The directors have now inaugurated a scheme, prepared by the Prudential Assurance Co., Ltd., which includes its hourly paid employees. The company employs over 2,700 persons, divided into two groups, and the new plan provides for each independently. The contributions of members in the first group depend on salary, and those in the second group on age. Not only are pensions provided, but provision is made for the payment of a capital sum in the event of death.

Morris-Commercial Utility Week.

From October 25 to 30, Stewart and Ardern, Ltd., has arranged for service engineers from Morris Commercial Cars, Ltd., to be in attendance at Morris House, High Road, South Tottenham, in order to give, free of charge, a test and report, in addition to doing, minor adjustments and greasing, on any Morris-Commercial vehicle which may be brought to the depot, irrespective of when and where it was purchased. Application for an appointment card should be made. Other representatives from Joseph Lucas, Ltd., the Dunlop Rubber Co„ Ltd., and Lodge Plugs, Ltd., will attend to give advice on matters pertaining to the products of their companies.

For the convenience of users, free inspection, etc., will also be conducted at Morris House, Catford.
