• Commercial Motor will once again be sponsoring Truckfest next year. Europe's biggest celebration of road transport will be held at the East of England Show Ground, Peterborough on 6-7 May 1990. The 1989 extravaganza attracted over 1,200 entries, from the biggest fleet operators to owner-drivers. According to event director Colin Ward: "Commercial Motor Truckfest is by far the biggest and the best, as well as the original truck festival," The international Supertruck Challenge, sponsored by Shell, is bound to produce its usual crop of startling entries. In addition to the usual prizes for best kept working truck, and best kept fleet, the organisers plan to add new classes for registration trucks.
All the major truck manufacturers are expected to be at the showground — at this year's show ERF sold its customised show vehicle The Boss straight off the stand within 24 hours!
Full details of the events and displays at Truckfest 1990 will be published in future issues, but for more details or to book space, call the Commercial Motor Truckfest office on (0775) 768661.
