delivered to Kentish Bus this month — not from MCW's Birmingham plant, but from Optare at Leeds. Having designed its own version of the Metrorider, Optare built one vehicle to MCVirs specification at the request of Kentish Bus. The longwheelbase 31-seater joins six others on a service through the Rotherhithe tunnel. KB runs on contract to London Regional Transport and needed an extra narrow bus or identical design to the previous delivery.
Optare is now starting a Metrorider production line of the redesigned version which was launched at the Bus and Coach show. No more buses will be built to the original MCW design.
