• Whittle International, which went into receivership earlier this month, has been bought by transport firm Hauser Forwarding.
WI will now trade as Whittle-Hauser from its existing Preston base with Michael Whittle as boss.
Whittle-Hauser will concentrate on Whittle's traditional business in Italy, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey and the Middle East. "The marriage of these two businesses will provide groupage services of improved regularity and a significant increase in efficiency," says the company.
WH will use two Hauser depots in Trafford Park, Manchester and Romford, Essex and will continue to draw upon Right: Whittle-Hauser will operate from Hauser depots in Manchester and Essex, and will continue to use the Whittle owner-driver pool.
