PERKINS diesel engines are on show fur the first time in an Engineered Engine Finish — a new livery which
allows 11ic tmlur.11 colours of aluminium and bronze components to contrast with the black paint finish given to major ferrous components such as the cylinder block ;Old head.
The entire engine is finally coated with a permanent and durable clear lacquer', which gives protection from extremes of environmental conditions.
On the stand is a Perkins 6.3544, claimed to be one of the world's roost successful six-cylinder diesel engine used for automotive applications, developing 95.5kW (128hp) at 2,80Orpm.
Alongside it are two Eagle engines built at Perkins Engines (Shrewsbury); the Eagle 3401.i, which will be available in the Leyland Roadtrain 6X2 tractive unit for the first time in 1986, and the Eagle 300Li. The Eagle 3401.i, turbocharged and charge cooled, develops 253.5k W (340hp) at 1,95Orpin while the 300Li develops 224kW (300hp) also at 1,95Orpm.
