ALTHOUGH Mercedes-Benz's new 3025K eight-legger was originally scheduled to appear in the UK in time for Tipcon, delays have meant it has had to wait until the Scottish Motor Show for its British show debut.

The 3025K is powered by the naturally aspirated 0M422.111 V8 engine (used in the 1625S tractive unit) which is rated at 180kW (247hp) and has a maximum torque of 932Nm (687 lbft). A seven-speed M-I3 gearbox is fitted as standard, although a ZF 16-speed Ecosplit gearbox is offered as an option. The hub-reduction rear axles are available with either 4.3 or 4.76:1 ratios.

The standard 5.2m wheelbase chassis cab on display has a claimed kerbweight of 8.63 tonnes GVW with a full 200-litre (44 gal) fuel tank. M-B offers the choice of day or sleeper cabs on its 8x4 chassis.

For 38-tonne GCW operations Mercedes is showing a 4x2 1633S tractive unit with a 3. Sin wheelbase. The I633S is fitted with the twinturbocharged 0M422A/V8 engine which is rated at 243kW (325hp) and has a maximum torque of 1,402Nin (1,034 Ibit). Standard equipment on the 1633S is the L-sleeper cab and the ZF sixteenspeed splitter gearbox.

Earlier this year Mercedes revised its 16.26 tonne GVW 4x2 rigid range, fitting the bigger-volume 0M366A turbocharged engine for increased M-B's show model is a 5.9m 1617 capable of having bodywork up to

7.9m long fitted. A choice of six or seven-speed gearboxes can be specified on the 1617. (A road test on the 1617 appears in CM'S November 9 issue).

For the all-important 7.5-tonne GVW sector M-11 is exhibiting a 100kW (13411p) 814 chassis cab with a 3.7m wheelbase. The 1.N2 range offers a high specification at 7.5 tonnes including 24V electrics, a five-speed synchromesh gearbox and full air braking.

Although they are not shown at Glasgow. Mercedes has recently launched new 13-tonne GVW models based on the L.N2 (CM, November 9, 1985).

Completing the M-B (UK) line-up is

a 2.6-tonne GVW 2071) panel van equipped with a 53kW (7111p) fourcylinder diesel engine which has a peak torque of 136Ntii (111(.1 lbft). The 3.05rn wheelbase 2(171) has a 7m3 load volume and a payload of around one tonne.
