REPLACEMENT or repair of a fifth wheel can put a tractive unit off the road Mr a long time. Now Jost, Europe's largest fifth-wheel and landing-leg manufacturer, has developed a pressed steel fifth wheel with a replaceable wearing ring or throat.
Before replacing the jaw the operator simply unbolts the ring, withdraws the pivot, and releases and removes die jaw spring and jaw — in all about 30 minutes off the road.
The new wearing ring is available for fixed or sliding fifth wheels.
