Rawtenstall Corporation has appointed Mr. John E. Ord as general manager of the bus department.

Mr. J. B. Hall, who was for many years manager of the Mobiloil department of the Vacuum Oil Co., Ltd., has retired after completing 30 years with the company. Upon his retirement, he received a presentation from Mr. Wilson Cross, chairman of the company.

Mr. A. T. Muir, whose portrait appears on this page, has recently been appointed manager of the new works of J. Brockhouse and Co., Lid., at Scotstoun, Glasgow. The dinner takes place during the week of the Smithfield Show.

The following are proposed new appointments by Liverpool Passenger Transport Committee : —Mr. J. S. Ross. rolling-stock engineer of Edinburgh Transport Dept., to be rolling-stock and works engineer; Mr. R. C. Moore, assistant manager and traffic superintendent of Hull Transport Dept., to be traffic superintendent.

Mr. Albert heal, the new Yorkshire Area secretary to the Transport and General Workers' Union, has been appointed a member of the employees' panel of the Yorkshire Area Conciliation Board, in succession to Mr. J. Slice, the Bradford district secretary of the Union. Mr. Heal is a member of the negotiating sub-committee of the Yorkshire Board.,

Conciliation Report Adopted.

At a recent meeting of the Council of the, National Road Transport Employers' Federation the report of the National Joint Conciliation Board was adopted.

An interesting tank wagon, comprising a Beardmore tractor and a Dyson six-wheeled tankertrailer coupled to it by a special drawbar. The tank is equipped for transporting corn syrup, and the trailer has 34-in. by 7-intwin tyres at the front and 13.50 by 20-in. tyres at the rear.
