note at your 'Letter of the Week' from SAJ Maclean. I was a bit surprised, however, that there was no mention of the driver applying the handbrake in his truck prior to leaving the cab and putting on/not putting on the trailer handbrake. This is an industry-wide problem we have had for decades, and the problems caused are generally because of a driver being interrupted while carrying out the dropping off or picking up procedure. For nearly 10 years we have been fitting the NETV audible cab handbrake alarm, where a pleasant lady warns you when you open the truck door if the handbrake has not been applied and then thanks you when you do it. Money well spent. I would contact North East Truck & Van about getting an alarm!
