His company is a private group with an annual turnover of 240 million, operating Austin Rover, Jaguar, Daimler, Vauxhall Opel and Land Rover and Range Rover franchises.

Clark has been a member of the MAA national council since 1981 and is a former chairman of the MAA West Midlands Regional Council.

His deputy president is James Smillie chairman and managing director of Stratstone of Mayfair. This is a private company with an annual turnover of 2() million and franchises for Jaguar, Daimler and Range Rover.

Tim Peet has joined Longtons as its youngest ever general manager. As general manager for Longton's sister company, Bulk Storage in the South East, Peet will be based at its new warehousing complex in West Thurrock.

• LEYLAND DAF

KEY APPOINTMENTS Marketing and sales managing director of Leyland Daf, Roger Phillips, has announced the structure of his organisation and its key personnel.

Daf bus and coach sales in the UK will continue to be the responsibility of Bob McLeod who will also assume control of the diesel business.

Tony Worthington will be responsible for the establishment of the Leyland Daf dealer organisation including the identification of potential franchise appointments, facility planning and the provision of a business management service.

engineering manager is John Beveridge who will continue to provide engineering support for Leyland Daf vehicles marketed in the UK, while Ian Lowe remains in charge of the Colchester-based special vehicle operations activity, including chassis supply, production engineering, stores and the workshop. His opposite number based at Leyland is Rodney Swarbrick. Truck sales operations managers Murdo MacLeod (Scotland and Northern Ireland), Stuart Hunt (North), Mike Kefford (South West and Midlands) and Peter Jackson (South East) will be responsible for sales of all Leyland Daf products within their territories. John Ball will be responsible for all truck sales matters relating to national fleet customers.

• UNITED TRANSPORT TANKERS ROWBOTHAM

United Transport Tankers' new group safety manager, John Rowbotham, will be responsible for all safetyrelated matters for the company throughout the UK.

Rowbotham, formerly supervisor for driver training with Conoco, is a member of RoSPA's national committee of the Advanced Drivers Association and is the company's first group safety manager.
