Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Following a growing demand from its customers, Seddon Atkinson has launched its own operating lease and contract hire package which will be offered through its 26 UK main distributors.

The alternative finance scheme is called Versa-Lease and will be offered alongside the Oldham manufacturer's Roadwise fixed-cost vehicle maintenance programme, introduced last October. All models with the Seddon Atkinson range will be covered from 16-tonne GVW refuse chassis to 38-tonne GCW tractive units.

Seddon Atkinson's sales and marketing director Peter Whitaker says that an increasing number of hauliers, including big own-account operators, who have traditionally purchased trucks are now looking for "alternative ways of acquiring the use of vehicles."

Versa-Lease will be administered totally by Seddon Atkinson, with Key Scot — a company set up jointly by The Bank of Scotland, and CV finance specialists Key Leasing — providing the funding.

Operating leases will be available to suit individual requirements with rental payments at monthly, quarterly or yearly intervals. The initial hire period is from one year onwards with the option to extend the hire.

Long life vehicles, such as tankers, can have hire periods of up to seven years. To suit changing work patterns the Versa Lease package can also include a purchase/hireback agreement.

By contracting to the Roadwise fixed-cost scheme an operating lease is extended into full Versa-Lease contract hire. While the two schemes are separate, a single regular payment can cover both.
