• Four directors of south London-based distribution specialist The Bucks Group have led a management buyout with the backing of Barings Capital Investment Former owner Tim Franey will retain "consultative links" with the group, but control rests with the new managing director Tom Clarke and his fellow directors.
Clarke is joined on the new board by distribution director Ron Bird, Mike Mackenzie, previously managing director of the group's engineering division, and the new non-executive chairman, Harford Robb.
Bucks Group's former managing director Bill Evans left the company before the buyout and now works for Stag Furniture in Nottingham.
Bucks has some 700 employees and operates 120 tractors from 13 bases. The company specialises in the handling of bulky, awkward and fragile items, but there are plans to build on this expertise following the buyout.
The chairman and executive directors are all investing in the company, as is Roger Symonds, major customer liaison director, John Garbutt, information systems manager; and John Hulin, chief financial executive Bucks' holding company, of Highshares.
